Vendrán Suaves Lluvias
Silvana Estrada's latest album, "Vendrán Suaves Lluvias", emerged from a life-changing phase of self-discovery, tragedy and ultimately transcendence for the globally acclaimed singer-songwriter. Following the release of her studio debut Marchita in 2022, the Mexico City-based multi-instrumentalist experienced a meteoric rise: she won a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist, played headlining tours around the globe and received widespread acclaim from media outlets such as The New York Times, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone, who described her as "an artist of the past, present and future".
But as she began work on her next album, the Veracruz-born musician faced a series of false starts and profound personal upheavals - including the murder of her best friend in late 2022. After a period of healing and refocusing, Estrada decided to produce the album herself - an intimidating but immensely fulfilling move that ultimately added depth and color to her dazzling form of indie-folk.
"For a long time I felt completely lost, and at some point I realized that maybe I just needed softness, sweetness and a safe space to reconnect with my intuition," Estrada says. "When I found that space again, I realized that I was the only person who could produce this album. The whole experience was like a rebirth - I went through so much loss and pain and came out the other side with a new understanding of how to face reality with grace and hope."
