Simon Popp meets Anna Martens

In the organizer's words:

The Munich-based percussionist and composer Simon Popp makes his way through polyrhythmic structures with a keen sense of timing and mood. He contrasts earthy and airy sounds, blurs the boundaries between the electronic and acoustic worlds and makes a powerful statement about what contemporary percussion music can be.

In 2023, Simon Popp was awarded the Förderpreis für Musik der Landeshauptstadt München. In 2025 he was nominated for the German Jazz Award.

Anna Martens is a professional dancer and choreographer whose works are created at the interface of dance theater, performance and socio-political reflection.

Together they expand the exhibition UNITED BY JAZZ with a congenial combination of jazz and dance.
