In this tranquil town, everything is in order, there are clear rules and everyone is expected to behave properly. Especially the children. But they suddenly say: We hate life here, we're moving out into the forest! And indeed, all the children have suddenly disappeared from the city. All of a sudden, the schools, playgrounds and houses are completely silent. The parents are at a loss. Because they miss their children, they send each other into the forest to get them back. A conductor tries classical music, the town bully with pithy announcements and Aunt Traude with lots of sweets. All are unsuccessful. Only the teacher tries to talk to the children and asks why they left in the first place.
In Where have the children gone?, Estonian children's author Indrek Koff takes a humorous and touching look at the relationship between adults and children. Estonian director Helen Rekkor is working on a German-language adaptation of the children's book, which will be premiered at the Sonnenhäusel.
