With the Espresso Variété, a fast-paced and avant-garde circus and theater spectacle disguised as street cabaret comes to Jena. For an hour, four artists and a live musician whisk the audience away into a world of wobbling tables, crunching shoe soles and clinking espresso cups - with or without sugar. For a long moment, the quirky café comes to life. Juggling, handstands, partner acrobatics, dance trapeze, artistic bicycle, Cyr Wheel and surprising object manipulations merge into a poetic charivari of technique, humor and magic that captivates children and adults alike. Inspired by the silent movies and cabaret of the Roaring Twenties, the piece is the result of a creative collaboration between Johan Allenbach, Johan de Carvalho, Mélusine Martin, Hanno Burger and Omri Swafield. Founded in 2022, the Freikopf company from Mantes-la-Jolie brings together artists from circus, theater, dance and magic. With mobile productions, workshops and open stages, it brings contemporary culture directly to the audience - creative, lively and always right to the heart of the audience.
