American Lilian Steiner (Jodie Foster) has been living in Paris for years and has made a name for herself there as a brilliant therapist. When her patient Paula (Virginie Efira) dies under mysterious circumstances, she is stunned. Was it really suicide, as the police quickly assume? Or has someone very cleverly helped her along? Together with her ex-husband Gabriel (Daniel Auteuil), who still can't let go of her, Lilian embarks on a turbulent search for clues to uncover Paula's secret.
