SPIELVERDERBERIN Marie Menke writes about an obsessive friendship between village youth and big city anonymity and about the force that holds three young women together and at the same time threatens to destroy them. The author creates a perfect interplay between the tender and the abysmal, full of atmosphere and imagery.

Sophie and Lotte have known each other since childhood; they come from the same farming community in Süthland. Romy only joins them in high school: she comes from the city and is freer and braver - but also more unreliable. The new constellation of three is characterized by mutual fascination, which soon runs the risk of tipping over.

In their early twenties, the young women struggle to transport their friendship to Cologne. When Romy suddenly disappears, old wounds are torn open: Buried among all the intense moments of the past is also a hard night that one of the three must never be reminded of.
