The artist Jan Kollwitz, who lives in Ostholstein, not only enjoys an international reputation for his Japanese ceramics from the Anagama kiln, but was also a successful film and theater actor before this career. As the great-grandson of the important artist Käthe Kollwitz, it is particularly important to him to keep the memory of her and her work alive and to help future generations to better understand the life of this great woman between art, family and social commitment and also to open up new perspectives on her life and work for art connoisseurs.
In her diaries, which were first published by her grandfather Hans Kollwitz in 1956, Käthe Kollwitz bears witness to human destinies and historical developments and reflects on her own work and her influence during this period.
Jan Kollwitz has made an equally personal and representative selection from his great-grandmother's diaries, which he will present in a reading at the Kollwitz Museum Cologne on May 27, 2026.
