Book publishing is a practice in transition. The conditions of text editing and distribution are changing rapidly due to digitalization and AI. But what does "publishing" actually entail? Which economies and which policies shape this activity? What knowledge and practices do publishers rely on? One of today's most successful medium-sized publishers, Andreas Rötzer, head of the Matthes & Seitz publishing house in Berlin, provides the answers. How did he become a publisher? What does his everyday life look like? And how has his publishing house managed to become an influential source of inspiration for debates in the humanities? The discussion evening marks the start of a series on the role of the humanities in society. Entitled "Humanities in Action", it will be published by intercom Verlag from the fall.
