COOL – Ein Miles Davis-Jazzfilmtag

On May 26, Miles Davis (1926 - 1991) would have been 100 years old, one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, a man of change who prided himself on having fundamentally renewed jazz several times: From bebop to the tonal sophistication of cool jazz, from the earthy passion of hard bop to the iridescence of modal jazz, from the magnetism of the swinging beat to the groove, to the trance of electronic dance music.

The UNERHÖRT! Music Film Festival Hamburg presents three films at the Metropolis Cinema that focus on Miles Davis and his music.

17:00 | MILES AHEAD: Don Cheadle's captivating directorial debut about two dramatic days in the life of Miles Davis.

19:00 | MILES DAVIS - BIRTH OF THE COOL: The definitive documentary about the master's sound, fame and fascinating personality.

21:30 | FAHRSTUHL ZUM SCHAFOTT: Louis Malle's noir classic with the legendary Miles Davis score improvised in just one night.

From 23:00, the Metropolis cinema bar will be transformed into a jazz club: live music from the Rückert Hughes Popple trio and an exclusive set from DJ Round Table will accompany us into the night.
