Current measure of things: 70 - 50 - 7. One man, many reasons to celebrate! Seven times Nils Landgren at the Kulturarena - and not one time too many! Hardly any artist is as closely associated with our festival as he is, and hardly any artist is as closely associated with the festival as he is. This year there are three good reasons to celebrate: Mr. Redhorn turns 70, has been on stage as a professional musician for 50 years and is celebrating all this with us and the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Swedish trombonist, composer, producer and singer is one of the most successful and popular jazz musicians in Europe. Whether with his legendary Funk Unit, his trio or as leader of renowned big bands - for half a century, the man with the red trombone has shaped the European jazz scene with his unmistakable style, openness and unwavering joy of playing.

For his 70th birthday and 50th stage anniversary, he is fulfilling his heart's desire: concert evenings with a large symphony orchestra. The multi-award-winning composer Vince Mendoza has rearranged the most beautiful pieces from Landgren's career - a musical feast that combines jazz, soul and orchestral sonority.

At the Kulturarena, this wish can come true together with the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra. "The sonorous embrace of a symphony orchestra is the greatest thing for a musician like me. I dreamed of this as a young man and I hope that my experience will also be yours!"
