Stimmen aus Turtle Island – Indigene Gegenwart in den USA

In the organizer's words:

"Turtle Island" is the name of the indigenous population of North America. With the exhibition "De/Collecting Memories from Turtle Island", the Museum Ludwig presents an indigenous perspective on the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. We would like to show you this perspective in the literature.

InMarch , the Americanist Verena Wurth, in dialog with the speaker Nicola Schubert, illuminated texts by the US-American-Indigenous author Robin Wall Kimmerer that refer to this indigenous perspective.

On May 3, the Americanist Dr. Stefan Benz will read, discuss and classify texts by the US-American-indigenous author Tommy Orange with the speaker Bernd Reheuser.

On July 9, Junior Professor Dr. Judith Rauscher will be our guest and, in conversation with speaker Magdalena Schmitz, will present texts by the indigenous American author Louise Erdrich.

Before the reading, you will have the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the exhibition at the Museum Ludwig led by the curators at 6 pm. The reading can be attended without a prior visit to the exhibition.

As on the first Thursday of every month - "KölnTag" - the visit to the museum and participation in the guided tour is free of charge for all residents of Cologne. Participation in the reading is free for everyone.
