Always blows your mind: Someone sits around the campfire and plays an atmospheric guitar. Or: Someone sits by the campfire and rejoices with their harmonica. Also good: someone sits around the campfire and sings so well that it gets under your skin. Okay, it doesn't necessarily need the campfire, but the fact is: this French musician trumps with every one of these gifted talents - and he can write too.

Charles Pasi comes from Paris, has Italian roots on his father's side and French roots on his mother's side - and probably thought at the age of 17 that gospel singing and harmonica would be a pretty good start to a career in music. So it was that he trained at one of Europe's most prestigious music colleges, the Saint Louis College of Music, among others, and went on to build a considerable career as a live musician.

His music is inspired by Bob Dylan and Neil Young, landing somewhere between blues, soul, rock, pop, jazz and world music, and what can we say: Pasi does a great job in this cross-genre sound field.

His music has taken him from Paris to Rome and back to Paris, from small clubs to large festival stages - right up to a recording contract with Blue Note Records and several successful albums. Charles Pasi has performed on stage with artists such as Santana, Lenny Kravitz and Neil Young, toured halfway around the world and yet remained true to his nature: curious, open and difficult to pigeonhole.

His latest album Adamas represents precisely this attitude - versatile, intense and full of energy. And how could it be otherwise: live, the Franco-Italian is of course adorable. The only thing that seems dubious about it is that he never seems to run out of breath. He sings, presents, plays his harmonica and inspires with his guitar. The whole thing is amplified live with a band and in the end it just sounds good. And warm. And beautiful.

The joy is great - for an artist who needs neither pauses nor poses and impresses with his voice, charm and playing. A tip right at the end: Listen to "Warm Embrace". And then ideally listen to all his other songs too.
