It is unique among brass instruments: It is the only one among them that can produce gliding tones without interruption - this is called glissando. Whether in a symphony orchestra, big band, ska, salsa or jazz concert, it cuts an astonishingly good figure for a wide variety of occasions and is therefore particularly popular. The trombone, which is called a trombone almost everywhere in the world, is a real power instrument and anyone who wants to play it needs exactly that: Power. We have it on good authority that there is a French musician who has mastered the sport of coordination, arm strength and skilled air control - not only technically, but also artistically in a spectacular way.

Awarded the prestigious Prix Django Reinhardt as the best jazz musician of 2025, Robinson Khoury is currently causing quite a stir internationally. It is no longer a secret that the young trombonist and composer is one of the most exciting voices on the French jazz scene, where he is making waves with his boundlessly powerful sound.

The talented musician attracted attention early on and is not stopping there: He played a decisive role in shaping the unmistakable sound of the SARAB formation, received special recognition from the Académie Charles Cros for his album Broken Lines, demonstrated an extraordinary stage presence as a soloist in the Metropole Orkest and the Quincy Jones Orchestra and played with greats such as Lew Soloff and Mark Turner. This bold list leaves no doubt that Robinson Khoury has long been at the top international level.

Now he is opening a new chapter - with his project MŸA. Instead of classical concert dramaturgy, the audience can expect a sonic expedition - a search for traces of the elementary forces from which life and music arise. Earthy, pulsating rhythms interweave with shimmering electro-acoustic textures, which Khoury shapes in real time with his modular synthesizer and constantly recreates.

Between jazz tradition and the finely nuanced scales of the Middle East, a sound unfolds that is both archaic and futuristic. The band's voice floats above it all - without words, but full of expression!
