She is charming and friendly, a little reserved - almost shy. Her gentle and cheerful disposition could smooth out any hard rock contour of Ayers Rock and on top of that, she only needs a few strings to tell an infinite number of stories. A little exotic with a beaming heart: oh, the ukulele - so sweet and delicate. Dazzled? She can be different - after all, it depends on who she meets! The bouncing flea (that's the translation) recently got involved with a pretty crazy Australian group. What can you say? She could have guessed it when she met them: Anyone who introduces themselves as the Ukulele Death Squad certainly doesn't want to ride off into the sunset cuddly and wearing a flower necklace.

Ukulele Death Squad has other plans for the hours spent with the otherwise so modest plucked instrument. The eight-piece band from Australia has a lot going for it, in the very best sense of the word! With a sheer indefinable mix of flamenco, ska, folk, jazz, blues, Balkan, pop and rock, they roll down every stylistic classification that is neatly stacked in their path - and are irresistible at the same time.

It is obvious why the award-winning collective is not only celebrated in Australia and New Zealand, but also in Europe. The shows are the deciding factor. But the hardcore ukulele playing is by no means everything: there are also crashing fanfares with exuberant brass passages, stirring ballads and great vocals from the stage - and in between they go crazy every now and then. They don't call themselves the "most dangerous ukulele band in the world" for nothing.

Now, of course, it's time for them to bring their wonderful chaos to Jena and unpack their latest and most versatile work, Essentially My Life Is A Disaster. Ukulele Death Squad invites you to do so almost a little too politely: "Do yourself a favor. Become the silliest and bravest version of yourself for one night!" Let's go then!
